I’ve had four 914s, but this is my first six, a late eighties with MoTronic FI. It has headers with megaphones… no muffler. Getting ready to install a Dansk sport muffler. Will the MoTronic be able to read the change and adjust or will that need to be done by a humanoid, lol. If the latter, will she run well enough to get her to such a humanoid ten miles away?

The back pressure change is tiny until WOT and maybe not that bad at WOT.
The modern FI should adapt fine. Keep the oxygen sensor/sensors if it has them. |

I think you will be fine but if not, head up to our place and have our guy make you a custom chip.

If you try to run factory 914-6 heat exchangers with a 3.2, you will be restricting it's horsepower. The 914-6 heat exchangers were designed with a 2.0L motor in mind. The tubes are too small for a 3.2 engine.
I would suggest a set of aftermarket heat exchangers sized for the 3.2 motor. 993 heat exchangers can be reworked to fit a 3.2, and they will flow just fine. There are also aftermarket heat exchangers out there that are copies of the factory units with bigger tubes. And the expression is "There is no replacement for displacement." I should know. I don't know of any aftermarket heat exchangers sized for the bigger engines other than Ben's/MB911 reworked 993 heat exchangers. The 993 units flow well and provide lots of heat. Ben does a great job making them work in a 914-6.

B&B (downvote... they suck.) Their quality control is terrible, and they never fit right
Hayward and Scott out of the UK. If you just want a header and are willing to fabricate the heater box, Bursch makes a set of 914-6 headers. I took the off the 4.0 motor. When I got back, I am going back with Ben's 993 heat exchanger conversion. |

H&S looked promising but the members here who purchased them said quality control was terrible. I haven't seen them advertised for years. Ben's original design were the best but they are nla. We've tried the heater boxes sold as add-ons and they just don't work. Not nearly enough volume to deliver heat to the cabin. |

I ran stock 914-6 heat exchangers on my stock euro 3.2 for years with no issues. However after upgrading to Ben’s 1 5/&” heat exchangers I did notice a difference above 5k rpms.

Same result here, although I had also changed to a custom muffler from Ben at the same time. I originally had smaller diameter, 20 year old Billy Boat heat exchangers. |

I run Ben's SS heat exchangers on my car. I had his SS muffler, 2-in, 1-out, and let me tell you the 3.2 roared when you hit 4,500 RPM all the way to redline. Reminded me of a "built" small block Chevy it pulled so hard and sounded so good. If you are running anything over a 2.7, do yourself a favor, strongly consider a set of Ben's heat exchangers. I believe they are 1.62" and it makes a difference. I have them on my 3.6 with a steel Dansk sport muffler, 2-in, 1-out and I am extremely happy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

The motronic DME injection will automatically adjust to the headers and muffler. To make the engine run like it’s on carbs, get the Steve Wong chip. Huge difference and no mid range bog. https://www.911chips.com/c1chips.html
