Jumped in the seat to move the car and was greeted by this. What the hell, I figured after 51 years if the dash hadn't cracked yet I was in the clear as long as I took care of it. Now I'll always be giving the dash the side eye, waiting for it to get worse.

That sucks, got a really nice used dash for my 914 and know someday, it'll crack as well.

It's character. If you name them you can get attached to them as they grow and eventually they will want to borrow the keys.

Rust, and aging of plastic, never sleep.
We could prevent rust by keeping our cars in a vacuum, but even that would not help plastic. |

FWIW, I've owned my 914 for 43 years. It was kept under a carport for the first 5 years, then garaged ever since. Since the beginning, I've used Armor-All on the dash and other vinyl. Still no cracks. Probably won't stay that way forever, but it's worked for me.
