A question for the experts here(or anyone who knows the answer).. how do these pieces attach to the steering column/ clamshell? Do they just slide in ? I can’t seem to make them stay. 70 914/6.

They should have a slot at the base that slides into the dash face

Thanks, Perry. Was able to figure it out from your response. the vinyl had covered up the metal prongs that I needed to use to secure the trim.

I bought some very rough 3d printed ones from auto Atlanta. I do think a good 3d print of these would sell well

Perry is right.
Just to clarify, the two plastic pieces have grooves on the back that slide onto
the 914 6 specific dash face tins.

I can't believe this but of all things Summit Racing sells the clamshells.
Credit to Chris (tygaboy) for finding this.
I'm curious to hear about quality.
The price is ... $51 each piece or for both ?
The tins ? I used sections of four cylinder dash tins modified and patched (welded ?
...can't remember) to suit.

Rory - Do you have a part number. My search skills are letting me down. Chances are Summit sells it because one of the big distributors like SSF or Worldpac sells it. If I have a part number I can see if any of the big guys sell it. Thanks
@rgalla9146

never mind - part #91455224110

Can't find anyone who's actually stocking it.

From my Summit order. The quality is great, fit is great. I couldn't be happier.

Heads up that in order to fit the lower dash pad, there's that little edge I had to trim off. It's on the lower shell and essentially hidden when everything's installed.
Hope this helps.

@rgalla9146 Yep. $105 for the set. Well under 1/2 price vs Porsche.
Plus, it's from Summit so returnable, for essentially any reason. I figured it was low risk so went for it. Again, great result, buy with confidence!

Be very careful with those as reproductions are currently not available. I have been seeking a set for a customer car for 6 months now.

and to answer your question, they don't mount to the clamshell, they sit behind it. There is a channel that slides into the dash facia pieces on both sides. Easier to install if you haven't already installed the facia and steering column.

I can't believe this but of all things Summit Racing sells the clamshells.

That is not the correct clamshell for a 914-6. It will work but it is physically different.

914 613 311 00 is the correct column cover/switch housing

and

914 552 241 10 are the pieces that you have in your photo

Autoatlanta had someone that was molding reproductions but they no longer are. We have been working to try and facilitate production as we have a factory -6 in need but as of right now there is no ETA (and there may never be)

That said if you are happy with the 911 bits we will take those pieces off your hands as we have a build needing them.

That's a generous offer.
I modified/frabricated from scratch to avoid dissasembling my original 6 dash to
simply trace the original 6 shape.
If you're determined to do it as original this is a time saver. The opposite of rude. Big props.
