I'm having an issue with my seat track metal stop thingy (whatever the proper nomenclature is). I can push it up the remove the seat, but once the seat is re-installed and I pull it forward (I have short legs), it hangs up on the stop and won't allow the seat to be pushed back fully without pulling up on the lever again.

What do I need to do to this stop to make it function as it should? pic below

As a side note, this seat stop malfunction actually caused the rather tall PO to sell it because "he couldn't fit in the car" and didn't know about the stop.

Remove the seat and show the orientation of the rail to the seat.
I thinking the rail may be backwards on the seat.

The bent portion should face forward. It is normal operation to hold it down to remove the seat and to hold it down to push the seat all the way back. There is no adjustment. I have had lots of 914’s and some had that stop removed, but it’s there for a reason in case of an accident.

Here's a pic of the stop and the orientation to the front of the car.

I don't recall ever having to manually pull up the stop to fully retract the seat on a 914 before, only to remove the seat from the rail.
