Purchased from the US BB model ,blown away by how rust free it is and the owner has a level of OCD that is rarely seen these days he is also a tool and die maker and builds the most amazing parts I have ever seen .
This car came to him with 112k miles and the motor was toast,he just looked @ a spare motor that he had which had a Eaton 45 blower on it and intercooler ,full EFI and most of the parts he made himself to a very high standard ,engineering like I have never seen before TBO. A rebuild 411 WO case and stock bore and spec with carb cam ,running 7.5 psi boost . Will post more when I hear more, it has completed a tuning test and first road test and really up to expectations. Will update further ,cheers . ![]() ![]() |

[/quote] Rest of the car received a tidy up but no rust repairs needed , a few worn out mechanical components rebuilt or replaced , owner mentioned the original paint is requiring some attention ...looks pretty darn good to me . Couple of things I noticed prove that the mileage isn't correct as purchased ,owner believes what shows on the speedo is the total so he is not aware how the speedo reads mileage when cllocked over ,currently showing 12K ,wear indicated 112k miles. IMO this isn't a big deal as the current condition is so good . ![]() ![]() |

go kiwis. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) engine is the horn. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Someone on that forum said it wouldn't be much good in a 914 ,he politely replied it was a fun project and he built it for that reason and to test his idea's and develop his concept ..and why not if you have those skills eh . My main reason for starting this thread was folks say you can't use forced induction on a 914 ,mcMark did it years ago and got good results with a turbo this guy has proved a SC works with clever research and the skills he has ,most of his induction system is custom made for example by him. Cheers. |

Cheers. even more fantastic. all the kiwis i know here are solid petrol heads. one i know has a sunbeam alpine le mans replica with a straight out exhaust he drives on the street with historic plates. gets pulled over by the cops all the time. they laugh their heads off to discover an elderly gentleman at the wheel.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) its nice to know there are poms out there even madder. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) there used to be a hill climb special here about 30 years ago. i saw it at bathurst for an event. they ran the hill climbs in the opposite direction to the big race. start on conrod and drive up what is normally the descent until they reach skyline. the guy with the special was running a supercharged 914 2.0 engine heavily modified. had no cooling tin or fan. he warmed it up at the bottom then switched off immediately at the top. as i recall he killed everything that day. i'd have to ask around who he was and see if anyone in historic circles remembers him. he was a local legend in the area of the bathurst circuit. |

... folks say you can't use forced induction on a 914... That's a bit of an inside joke around here. Someone in the 1990s wrote into the old "european car" magazine about turbocharging a 914, and the mag responded "Everybody knows you can't turbocharge a 914!" Despite MSDS (and possibly Crown?) selling kits to do just that years before... I've never been a believer in supercharging on a 914, myself. I wonder how well that belt drive will hold up? --DD |

I was a bit skeptical but the test drive video on Youtube is impressive ,and once fully fuel mapped it will be even better ,currently running 21 degreases total advance and 7.5 PSI boost so future potential there. Definitely can not install a 962 flat fan on a 914 either (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Find the build date, punched in by Dieter W. (engine builder) on the sheet metal/ just over the oil cooler area; 3.89 ! ![]() |
