I recently purchased a 75 1.8 in Metallic Copper L99K.

I wasn't really looking for a 914 but my wife alerted me to it on FB. I'm usually skeptical about teeners for sale online and I'd pretty much given up hope of finding a relatively rust free 914 that didn't require years on jack stands to be roadworthy for a reasonable price. This one met all the criteria and then some.

The seller posted some fairly good pics including the underside. It looked surprisingly clean in pics and even better in person. It started, ran, and drove reasonably well in sellers' backyard.

Story was, it belonged to the sellers brother who purchased it of Texas 20+ years ago. He drove it for a couple of years, it developed some oil leaks, he parked it and he had health issues. It was acquired by his son or grandson who had the engine rebuilt by Tony Proasi (who took 1.5 years to get around to rebuilding it), but decided it was too small for him and turned his attention to a Miata, hence the sale.

I could use some tips on opening the rear trunk. The push button isn't actuating the solenoid to release the latch. It was working yesterday when I was looking the car over.

Push down lightly on the trunk lid right on the curvature over the lock as someone pushes the button; that might do it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

That looks like a nice car with lots of potential. Good score! Glad you could work out delivery with the seller. That color is awesome and I think the black bumpers look great with it (I can feel the flames already (IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif) ). Post more pictures when you get a chance.

Agreed. If that doesn't work you can remove the plastic latch cup to get access to the trunk and string together a series of ratchet extensions until you can reach the latch and then release it. There is a thread on this somewhere....

Yeah, I used to be one of the "big bumper haters" and styled steel wheels look but I've come around to appreciate them.

Seller also gave me the OG styled steel wheels set so I can do the whole OG look if desired. Other bonuses include a bra, cloth cover and an extra aftermarket 3 bolt muffler.

Electric release? Look for an emergency cable or rod to pull on, maybe under the trunk floor.
