I thought I would just run a quick search to buy a rear deck lid support shock kit today, but no dice.
Is Camp 914 gone? Are the kits no longer? Thanks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

if we have aa kit floating around someone should research the required parts to make up these again. If I had a kit I would do it. I wish I would have kept my kit now.

I bought my kit from Craig at Camp 914 in July '24 with no issues. He answered the phone and the kit arrived w/in a week.

If anyone else has a kit I would love to borrow it to make patterns off of.

No need to fabricate anything, just source the parts:

If anyone knows the part # for the shocks themselves that would be very handy. I need just the shocks for both cars.
TIA. |

I had a for sale ad about a month back giving away a gas strut kit I took off of the factory six. In that thread, I took a picture of the strut with the label visible. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=372254 The picture is slightly blurry, but still readable. Thanks Clay. Using the part number at several sites comes up empty- they all start with C16 but the other numbers don't find anything.
Will probably have to go with open and closed lengths to find something. |

Then they most likely use this 10mm ball socket fitting:

Easy peasy!
Obviously the McMaster bracket is just a guess because I don't have measurements to compare against, but it looks pretty close. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

If you talk nice, you can probably get @vintage914racer to measure the brackets on the kit I sent him.

With a little more detail and retitling this thread to “DIY Trunk Shocks” we won’t need no stinkin’ kit…
