I'm coming in 2 weeks with HSR to race...there's going to be several 914's along with super awesome variety of cars--my Kermee is at the bottom of the food chain but great to rub elbows with guys fielding LeMans prototypes etc....

Damn, I will be traveling at that time. I live 15 miles from the track so it's super easy to go up and watch.

First day down. She is not fast on the straights but I can hang with everyone in my group on the corners (in fact they piss me off because if I have to lift it gets squirrelly).

Finished day 2. Car held up great. Was running better on the way home than on the way there.

However, the passenger side valve cover gasket gave out (brand new). What am I doing wrong? I am cleaning the surfaces, not using any goop or anything. Leak developed at the front by cylinder 4. I have tried both the thick 914 gasket and the felpro. Driver side is fine. Just need to be more careful on the gasket alignment?

Yes, the next event like this one through Niagara pca is September, however the head instructor also does something called "Trackmaster" events that will happen in June and July I believe. There were people there from all over the country. Very well produced. After I experienced it I can't believe how cheap it was. Guests are allowed and you have run of the entire track, which is pretty much a state park. My kids had a picnic by the boot and played frisbee while watching the cars go by .

There are more pca events like this through other regions during the summer as well. I just don't have the details.

I know the feeling. At local PCA AX events, I am the only 914 typically.. and almost always the only 914/6. Most cars pre 1990 don't come out and play anymore.

Then again, it happened to the 356 crowd.. then the 914 crowd.. seems there are even fewer 944 cars than I recall.. (so, yea, 30+ year old cars aren't as frequent at events, at least on the east coast).

Keep representing and have fun!
