In removing my gauges to install a new dash pad I found two wires that were not connected to anything. One wire a LightBlue with yellow stripe with a small push on connector and a black with yellow stripe without a connector. These two wires were in the gauge wiring bundled but I cant figured out where the belong.
I check the gauges and they seem to have all of their correct wires per the drawing provided on this forum . I do not want to put the gauges back without having these two wires connected to the right location. I guessing they belong to something other then the gauges. any ideas? |

When I was having wiring issues, I found this here. I forget who did it, so once again thanks to who made it originally. It's saved me a few times. My issue is, I am colorblind, (I had someone tell me the colors of the wires I was holding. From what I see, I can't tell if those are on here.

What year car Anthwp?
There are no blue with yellow stripe wires on my 71 schematic. Black with yellow stripe is for the brake light circuit and horn. Nothing like that should be up in behind the dash. Do you have a radio that is hooked up? Possibly for that if you don't have one.... Do you get any power out of either wire with the key on (or off)? |

You have a 75 or 76 CA-only model right?
The blue/yellow is for the CAT light on the dash, the Black/Yellow is for the EGR light on the dash. They are just idiot lights, no biggy if they are disconnected. |

Next question, we know the number of 914s built, is there a state to state breakdown of where the cars were shipped to ?? |

Thanks guys for your help, I had to get on a flight this morning, But yes the car is a 1976, and yes the radio was removed it was an aftermarket ship to shore radio. Know you understand why I removed it. The car came out of Texas / mexico boarder.
The radio had direct power wires that I removed. I get back home on Friday and will check the wires routing as you described. Thanks |
