Derek Sweger from Aircooled Racing has put together an awesome drive for us on Friday April 30th, the day before the Carlisle swap meet.

We'll gather at 10AM at the Carlisle Food Mart convenience store - 603 Franklin St, Carlisle, PA.

Our first stop will be for an early lunch around 11AM.

After lunch, we'll tear up some country roads and tour 10 covered bridges. The drive is 86 miles.

Please chime in if you plan on attending so we can get a headcount to the restaurant.

Thanks for organizing this Derek. beerchug.gif

I took Thursday and Friday off and plan on attending. Thanks driving.gif

I'm planning to be there.

Amy will be recovering from surgery, but will hopefully be far enough along that she will also be able to attend. It will be a day trip though, as I'll want to be back home with her after the drive.

Are any of the 914 crowd planning on getting a hotel room on Friday night? If so, let me know, I'd like to stay at the same hotel.

Thanks,

Ben

I noticed that the online registration is closed. Can I just show up and register onsite on the day of the show?

I’m downgraded to a maybe. It will depend on how Amy is doing. This weekend was rough (tonsillectomy on Tuesday) and I can’t break away for the day if She’s not doing better. Kind of a bummer since I know I can’t make the NE gathering in July either. I’m hopeful, but I need to see a lot of improvement.

Doesn't look like this is going to happen. Thinking I go out later on Friday or the morning of the show?

The drive is on. It looks like we have 8 confirmed (including you) and 4 maybes. Hope you can make it.

okay - sounds good. Firming up plans with my buddy from CT. Trying to get him here by Thursday night, but he may not be able to come out until Friday, if so I am out.
BENBRO02
7 confirmed with 5 maybes is a manageable number. Sounds like it’s going to be fun. I’m almost definitely bringing my wife (Fay) too.

My wife and I will be "maybes" - I just dropped off the 914 at Tony's for some minor work (and we all know how that goes ...).

will be driving out Thursday, Probably all the way in the RAIN.

Little more driving Friday with this group.

Already compiling a list of local self serv car washes, to get ready for Saturday.

Hell, 2 is a great number! The big drives can get hard with the group getting broken up. 5-7 cars is like the golden number to be able to stay as a pack. Setting up these drives is a good bit of work, having done it in the past I really appreciate all the effort Bob and the others put into it! 80 miles of PA back roads in spring is sounds a lot like heaven to me.

Where's the pics?

We got 4 914s together and toured 10 covered bridges this morning. Thanks to Derek for organizing the event and leading the pack in his 924 turbo. It was so windy that we had to stop and remove a fallen tree that was blocking the road.Click to view attachment

Great job with the pictures Bob. I only took a handful. I always get caught up in the moment and forget to pull out my phone. Thanks

Drive was a total Blast..

Winding roads with little to no other traffic.
